Rachel Singer Feted on 95th birthday Anniversary
Rachel Singer of Tafton cele-
brated her 95 years at a dinner
party held July 9 at Ehrhard’s
Lakeside on Lake Wallenpaupack.
A total of 40 guests attended
the event which was hosted by
her three children Dorothea
Demnan, Rosemarie Hamilton,
and David Singer
The flower arrangements on
the tables were provided by
Dorothtea Denman who owns
and operates the Olive branch
Flower Shop In Shokan, NY.
Rosemarie lives in Oregon and
David Singer in Virginia.
Mrs. Singer was one of the ten
children of Samuel and Esther
Hazelton. Before marying George
Singer, she taught school in
Tafton and Newfoundland. The
couple built Silver Birches,
which opened for business in
1929 They later moved to New
York state with George Singer’s
lumber business and returned to
Tafton after retirement.
Pictures dating from as early
as 1903 of the birthday celebrant,
her sisters, and her brothers were
displayed along with her yearbook
from the Newfoundland High School.
Among those present it the party
were both of her surviving sisters
Marjorie Ehrhardt and Frances Haser.
